About Us

PHPC is a medium-sized club of around 40-50 members. Our members range in skill from enthusiastic novices to experienced photographers. The club has a few members who are judges.

We have a number of members who run the mentoring program for our newer members to learn the capabilities of their camera(s). We are large enough to support the growth of members but small enough to be a community, where all members can know each other. The club is here to challenge us to get the best from ourselves and our cameras

Competition 03 Members’ Choice Results

The Members’ Choice voting period has been closed before the extended deadline because we had a system issue, and few further members were voting. Apologies to those members intending to vote and who missed out.

The results are in! About half of our club members voted so the results are a fair reflection of members’ opinions.

The table below shows the entries that gained 60 stars or more, together with the judge’s awards. There is broad alignment but not complete agreement, which is to be expected.

Congratulations all for your very creative (and open) entries!

Competition 03 – Members’ Choice Will Close on Friday

Thank you to the Club members that have lodged their Members’ Choice votes for the entries in Competition 03. So far 12 to 16 members have done so for the various categories in the competition. That means the majority of the club members have not yet voted.

This is a reminder to members who have not voted to please give your votes to the photos in the form of a 1 to 5-star rating. The voting period has been extended and will be closed off at midnight this Friday the 1st of May 2020.

The results will be published simultaneously with the official judging for the competition. Our official judge has nearly finished, but not quite yet.

Here is a reminder of how to go about using the Members’ Choice voting facility on MyPhotoClub.

Go to the Members’ page where you normally go to upload competition entries. Next to Competition 03 you will see a blue star. Click on the blue star and you will be taken to the online judging page which contains the instructions.

A video of how to use the online judging tool is here: https://myphotoclub.com.au/myphotoclub-features/#Online-scoring

We are using the 5 point system. You rate each entry with a score 1 through 5, 5 being the best. Guidelines for the scores are on the judging page.

If you have any questions please contact the Competition Secretary. Good luck with your judging and enjoy the very excellent and creative images.

Competition 03 – Members’ Choice Online Judging Invitation

Thank you, everyone, for your forbearance with the video-conference based meeting we held last night. Due to some technical issues, the first attempt did not go well, but the second attempt was a success, although we lost some of you on the way. In the end 25 of our members participated and saw a preview of all the entries in the current competition.

The official judge for Competition 03, Barbara Bryan, is now assessing entries using the online judging facility. We expect to have the results for publication in a week. Members may recall Barbara’s presentation to us in March 2019 on Creative Photography.

Simultaneously, we are asking you, the members, to give your assessments of the entries by using the online judging tool on MyPhotoClub.

We will keep this open until Monday 27th April 2020 and then publish the results along with the official judging results. Only the official results will attract points. The popular vote is an opportunity for you to exercise your judging skills and to see the entries at your leisure.

If you have any questions please contact the Competition Secretary. Good luck with your judging and enjoy the very excellent and creative images.

Reminder: Next Competition – Australian Landscapes

Re-posted with a clarification:

A reminder to all competing members that our next competition for 2020 is a set only topic “Australian Landscapes”. Entries close at 11:59pm on Saturday the 14th of March 2020, and judging will commence at 7:45pm on Monday the 16th March 2020.

Before submitting your entries please refresh your memory of the definition of the topic, per the NSW FCC rules: ” A photograph of natural land or coastal scenery taken within Australia, which may include people, buildings or other objects, provided that these elements do not dominate the photograph. Seascapes with no land do not fit the topic.”

Entries will be scrutinised for compliance with the topic prior to judging and entries deemed to be not in compliance will not be admitted for judging. The key criteria will include the correct media category, the absence of a dominant presence of people, buildings or non-natural objects, and the significant presence of a landscape.

We look forward to your entries.
