Re: FCC Interclub
Apologies everyone as I set the time to midday instead of midnight yesterday. I have changed this to 11.59pm today – so last chance to upload photos today.

It’s FCC Interclub time!
Hi everyone
Every year we, PHPC, enter the FCC Interclub competition. This is a club competition. I’m asking that you upload to MyPhotoClub 2 photos for each of the competition sections below. We, the sub committee, will then go through the photos and pick the top 10 for each section to enter. See the rules below.
RULES:
- We can enter 10 photos from our club for each section only.
- Photos enter in the previous FCC Interclub should not be entered again.
- You can enter any photo, that fits the category below, it does not have to be entered in any of our competitions.
- Upload to the Collection: 2021 – NSW FCC Interclub Selection (please note this is under the current competition What is it?)
- UPLOAD BY THURSDAY 21st October midnight.
Competition Sections
Section 1 – Monochrome Digital Image
Section 2 – Colour Digital Image
Section 3 – Nature Digital Image
Section 4 – Creative Digital Image
Section 5 – Australian Landscape Digital Image
DEFINITIONS
Monochrome (Digital Image) – “A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category. On the other hand a black and white work modified by partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category.”
Colour (Digital Image) – “Any photograph that is not monochrome.”
Nature (Digital Image) –From 1st January 2015 the FCC has adopted the APS definition for Nature. “Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archaeology, in such a fashion that a well-informed person will be able to identify the subject material and certify its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks, adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement.
No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning.
Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are allowed. Stitched images are not permitted. All allowed adjustments must appear natural. Colour images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. Infrared images, either direct captures or derivations, are not allowed.
Images used in Nature Photography competitions may be divided in two classes:
Nature and Wildlife. Images entered in Nature sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above can have landscapes, geologic formations, weather phenomena, and extant organisms as the primary subject matter. This includes images taken with the subjects in controlled conditions, such as zoos, game farms, botanical gardens, aquariums and any enclosure where the subjects are totally dependent on man for food.” There is no separate wildlife section.
Creative/Experimental – “Creative or experimental images displaying a novel effect because of an unusual combination of objects and/or unusual viewpoint. Images that have been modified during or after exposure by using an experimental technique or digital manipulation processes are also eligible in the Creative/Experimental sections. The image must always have a basic photographic component and have been exposed by the entrant.”
Australian Landscape – “A photograph taken in Australia of natural land or coastal scenery, which may include people, buildings or other objects, provided that these elements do not dominate the photograph. Seascapes with no land do not fit the section. Urban-scapes are not acceptable.”
Small Club – “A small club is a club that at time of membership renewal i.e. 30th June 2020 had less than 20 members. The Club needs to notify the Federation of Camera Clubs (NSW) Secretary by email prior to closing of the competition.
Any questions please let me know.
Regards
Nancy

Update and Survey link
Hi members
We held our committee meeting last Monday night in preparation for the upcoming AGM and photography year 2022. Most of the committee are staying on and we have two new members added to the committee, which is great. So far no-one has volunteered to take on the Presidency role – this role is a vital role for the club – please let me know if you are interested.
The government is talking about returning to normal in December. We are looking at, like last year, holding our last night of the year face-to-face. I would appreciate it if you could complete a short survey so we can look at the feasibility of this. Here is a link to a short survey.

Competition Monday 30th August – Photo Rally Set-Still Life & some Updates
Hi all
Please see the following updates:
On Monday night we will hold our Competition – Photo Rally Set Subject-Still Life via zoom (same as last competition zoom log in). I’m waiting to hear if the judge will be joining us.
Please note we do not have a presenter for 6th September so we will cancel this meeting.
20th September is Set Subject – Transport.
For those that were not able to attend the last zoom meeting I will let you know that David and I have decided to move back to Newcastle. This will happen 6th October. I will stay on as President until the AGM 15th November and if we return to face-to-face I will travel down for the final competitions of the year.
We are therefore looking for a new President. If you are interested please let me know asap as I would like to start handing over information in the next few months. It is a lovely role with a very supportive committee.
I look for to seeing you on zoom Monday night and seeing what every one has been doing with their still life photography – certainly a challenge!
Till Monday.
