About Us

PHPC is a medium-sized club of around 40-50 members. Our members range in skill from enthusiastic novices to experienced photographers. The club has a few members who are judges.

We have a number of members who run the mentoring program for our newer members to learn the capabilities of their camera(s). We are large enough to support the growth of members but small enough to be a community, where all members can know each other. The club is here to challenge us to get the best from ourselves and our cameras

ASIA PACIFIC AWARDS 2024

Mieke Boynton recently posted on Facebook about the amazing images in the Asia Pacific Awards for 2024. With my curiosity sparked I couldn’t help but go into the site and have a look.

Unbelievable, stunning, jaw-dropping!!!!!

If you would like some pure magical inspiration, then visiting the Asia Pacific Awards Website is well worth your while. https://asiapacificphotoawards.com/

Once on the home page, scroll across and click on the Winners Gallery Tab. This will give you a drop down menu that will give you access to all categories and also past years.

You will see some familiar names such as Peter Eastway, Matt Palmer, Mieke Boynton, Robin Moon and Nilmina de Silva (I presume the same Nilmina from Hornsby Heights club). I am sure you may recognise some more names.

Hope you enjoy and hopefully get some inspiration and ideas.

APS Australian Cup 2024 -Update

On behalf of the committee I would like to acknowledge the club members for the many amazing images that were uploaded for consideration in the APS Australian Cup 2024.

I am excited about the quality of the images and the commitment shown by the members of our club.

The selection of the final 20 images to be entered into the competition is going to be quite a task for our selection team. In the meantime many of the images will also be considered for the FCC Interclub later in the year.

The photographs will be chosen over the next month and I will let you know early in May if we will be entering some of your images in the Australian Cup 2024.

Once again a massive thank you…

Regards

Janne

Australia Cup 2024

Keep those entries coming in!!!

Thank you to everyone who has uploaded entries into the Australia Cup 2024 entry page. From the look of it we should have a very strong entry collection of photographs for the Australia Cup Competition.

In the meantime, if anyone else has any other images that they would like to enter please do so by 11.55pm on Sunday 24th March.

If anyone is interested in still getting another image, reminder that the Berowra Fauna Fair will be held on Sunday 17th March, 10am to 3pm, at the Berowra Community and Cultural Facility, The Gully Road, Berowra. The Fair kicks off with A Smoking Ceremony at 10am.

Looking forward to seeing your entries.

Australian Cup 2024

Hi all, just a reminder that entries for the Australian Cup entries for our club to collate, close on March 24th.

As mentioned at our first meeting, the Australian Cup is run by the APS and the topic is “This is Australia” which incorporates anything Australian from family gatherings, people doing things, buildings, landscapes, wildlife etc.

We have already starting compiling a catalogue but with so many amazing photographers at our club, I am sure that many of you have an image or two (or more) that has not fitted into any category for our club competitions but is indeed an amazing image of “This is Australia”.

The entry page has now been upgraded to take anything from 1 to 12 entries per member. We will be able to use up to 3 images per member. We’ll be choosing the images that we believe best suit the topic.

You will find the entry page on the entry page for our regular competitions. The tab is labelled Australia Cup and works like any other upload of photographs for our competitions.

Good luck everyone, looking forward to seeing your images.

Reminder – First get together for 2024 on Saturday 3rd Feb at 11.00am

SATURDAY 3RD FEBRUARY AT 11AM

UPPER MCKELL PARK, BROOKLYN

Hi Everyone, just a reminder that our first get together is this Saturday 3rd February at 11.00am at McKell Park, Brooklyn

There are many options for lunch, including bring something to barbecue, bring a picnic or even walk down to the local fish & chip shop to pick up some takeaway. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to come.

If you care for a wine or beer please be discreet as we are not supposed to have alcohol at the park. There is always an opportunity for a glass at the pub after.

Remember to bring your camera as there will be an opportunity to go for a walk down to the marina and around to Parsley Bay. It is a club outing so there will be plenty of opportunities to grab some photographs for the “Our Club” competition later in the year. You may be able to get a photograph or two for the upcoming APS “This is Australia” competition.

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Regards

WELCOME TO 2024 – PICNIC/BARBECUE, SATURDAY, 3RD February, UPPER MCKELL PARK, BROOKLYN

SATURDAY 3RD FEBRUARY AT 11AM

UPPER MCKELL PARK, BROOKLYN

Welcome to 2024 and looking forward to catching up with everyone for our first meet-up of the year.

Please note the change in venue from the calendar provided at the end of last year.

The venue is now at Upper McKell Park, Brooklyn

Parking can be limited but we are at the upper level of the park away from the parking rush for the boats and the pool. There are two ways into the park area via Karoola Street.  I am presuming that most of you are familiar with Brooklyn.  You can access Karoola Street by either going to the end of the marina the taking the right fork (turn off up the hill and follow it to the end, or you can turn right at the pub, then follow that road as it turns left, then first on your left (William Street) then at the end of that street turn right into Karoola.  (Arrggh, that all sounds messy), look at the map below or use your car/phone navigation system. Alternatively it is approximately 250metres from the rail station with a short but steep set of stairs to the top.

POST ABOUT OUR ICM COMPETITION NOW POSTED ON ICMPhotoMag Facebook

Christopher Weeks mentioned that he would publish some of our results within the ICMPhotoMag community. So it was quite exciting to find this post on their Facebook page this morning. Hopefully most of you have Facebook and will be able to access it (not sure if you can get access without Facebook, but give it a go).

AERIAL/DRONE/NATURE IMAGE FOR THE FCC INTERCLUB

WE NEED YOUR HELP

It’s that time of year again. We’ve been selecting the images that we will be submitting this year in the FCC Interclub NSW. We are fortunate to have so many excellent images that you all have submitted over the last 12 months with a few being selected from the previous year.

We do not have enough images for the digital aerial/drone category and also perhaps a couple in both print nature and digital nature.

If you are using a drone for photography we invite you to choose a couple of your images and upload them via our webpage under the FCC Interclub tab (competition entry page) into the aerial/drone category.

If you have been on a helicopter or light plane and have taken some photographs we invite you to choose a couple of these images and upload them via our webpage under the FCC Interclub tab the aerial/drone category.

Also, we will most likely need a couple more Nature photographs and also invite you to upload any Nature images via our webpage under the FCC Interclub and into the Nature category (you will see one for Print and one for Digital, we’re after a couple of each.

You will see a list of potential categories but we are just after aerial/drone and nature.

I’ll be in contact with the owners of the selected Nature images to ensure that they fulfil the rules. (Not allowed are photographs of human-created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals domesticated animals, human-created hybrid animals and mounted or preserved zoological specimens. Processing or editing must be limited to making the images look as close to the original scene as possible, except that conversion to greyscale monochrome is allowed.

I’ll also be in contact with the owners of the selected Print images to check that the images can be provided in the required size with a mount 40cm x 50cm and not exceeding 5mms.

Looking forward to seeing any aerial, drone or nature images that you can provide for this competition.

ENTRIES TO BE SUBMITTED BY MONDAY 11TH MIDNIGHT

Regards
