About Us

PHPC is a medium-sized club of around 40-50 members. Our members range in skill from enthusiastic novices to experienced photographers. The club has a few members who are judges.

We have a number of members who run the mentoring program for our newer members to learn the capabilities of their camera(s). We are large enough to support the growth of members but small enough to be a community, where all members can know each other. The club is here to challenge us to get the best from ourselves and our cameras

Tonight’s Meeting 7.45pm

Meeting time is our usual 7.45pm

It is showing as 6.30pm on the calendar on the webpage. The system seems to want to default to that time but it is not correct. Working on fixing that.

Results for Australia Cup 2023

Hi All

As you are aware we came 15th out of 57 clubs that entered the Australia Cup for 2023. An amazing effort for our first time entering the competition.

The results catalogue is now live on the APS website. Please find the link below. I have just been in to have a look and I didn’t need to log in as a member to access this.

It’s very inspirational to look at the quality of the images in this competition. We will hopefully be entering again next year. Our entries this year were selected mostly Merits & Credits that were given to our members over the last 12 months at our club competitions and that fitted the category of ‘This is Australia”.

Congratulations to the club and to everyone whose image was selected.

Web links from the last email updated

Hi All

In my usual novice way I did a simple cut and paste to share the thank you email from Christopher Weeks. And of course I have found out that none of the links copied quite that easily and don’t work on the email that you received.

If you go to the posting on our webpage you will find all the links are working.

Kind regards, Janne

Follow up from Christopher Weeks presentation on ICM

Hello everyone,
Thank you so very much for the opportunity to speak to your clubs, and for your kind replies. It means a lot to have feedback about what you found helpful or inspiring. I would GREATLY appreciate if you, or any other members, would post a comment on the post I made in the ICM Photo Magazine facebook group. It would be really helpful for members of the group to hear your thoughts about my presentation.
Thank you again and I am sincerely looking forward to seeing the results of your ICM Photography competition!
Oh by the way, I found out why I lost connection at 3:00am. Turns out that the guy who manages the tech at the cabin where we’re staying has programmed the internet router to shut down and reset at 3:00am every day, and it takes five minutes to fully reset. It would have been nice to know this! I was sweating bullets wondering what was happening. This router reset corrects issues caused by guests who get in and muck about with the internet settings. I was relieved to know that this issue wasn’t something I did, and it also was not an issue from your end!

ICM Zoom Presentation by Christopher Weeks on the 31st July

EXCITING NEWS ABOUT OUR NEXT ZOOM PRESENTATION ON ICM PHOTOGRAPHY BY INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER, CHRISTOPER WEEKS.

Date: Monday 31st July, Time: 7.45pm, Zoom log-in details to be provided the week before the presentation

Christopher Weeks is creating a presentation for our club to help inspire people to create images for the upcoming ICM competition. He will present a combination of beginning ICM techniques, then a number of ICM genres, and include Multiple Image ICM creation and some special shooting and processing recommendations. He will have many examples of various genres of ICM and ME-ICM and will include his approach to adopting an abstractionist perspective to create artistic images made with an eye towards printed art.

A former commercial / advertising photographer for over two decades in the U.S., he was internationally published and received numerous awards for his photography. Now based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, he works exclusively on the artistic side of photography with a primary focus on Urban and Nature abstracts, Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), and Multiple-Exposure ICM. Christopher is often influenced by the abstract paintings of the 1960’s that featured vibrant colours and the use of deep black accents. He developed a multiple-exposure ICM style of photography that features vibrant colours and a motion-capture aesthetic. Christopher is part of the team at ICM Photography Magazine where he is a regular contributor and administrator.

Christopher is known for his engaging, quick-paced and informal presentation style. His talks and workshops are a balance of inspiring photographs, image-making philosophy, and technique, all aimed at inspiring participants to clarify their vision and develop the skills to express their distinct creative spirit.

Christopher’s style of ICM photography often features vibrant colours, creative perspectives and innovative techniques. He has extensive experience teaching others how to express themselves through photography. He has designed and taught numerous photography workshops, photo walks, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.
