About Us

PHPC is a medium-sized club of around 40-50 members. Our members range in skill from enthusiastic novices to experienced photographers. The club has a few members who are judges.

We have a number of members who run the mentoring program for our newer members to learn the capabilities of their camera(s). We are large enough to support the growth of members but small enough to be a community, where all members can know each other. The club is here to challenge us to get the best from ourselves and our cameras

Competition Points Tables Now Available

The Points Tables for MyPhotoClub Version 2 have just been made available and been configured for our competitions. To view them please go to the Competitions page via the Members grey button on the home page.

At the top of the points competitions, you will see a new narrow bar. To view the Points Tables, click on the blue button labelled “View Pointscores”.

A page showing the names of our points tables in the left pane should then be shown. Click on the table you wish to view and the table will show in the right pane.

Please check your totals to ensure the system is tallying the scores correctly and nothing has been missed. Members have been emailed the points for each competition entered this year. Please contact the undersigned if there is any issue.

Reminder – Competition 1902 Closes at Midnight Tonight!

Unfortunately an automated reminder about the current competition closing tonight was not sent, so apologies for this late reminder (even though the Club Calendar has been published for some time).

Competition 1902 – Set only with the topic “Australian Landscapes” closes at midnight tonight (Saturday the 16th March 2019). We have numerous entries already, but not the usual number yet. So please do make sure you upload your entries today in good time to allow for recovery from things not going as planned (which happens rarely).

If you are having difficulty please contact the Competition Secretary at competition@phpc.org.au or 0408-406-519 and I’ll try to assist.

The 2019 Competition Season Will Commence Soon

A gentle reminder that our 2019 Competition Season kicks off with an Open competition on Monday the 18th February 2019.  The competition entry form is available on our MyPhotoClub website.  The competition will close at midnight on Saturday the 16th of February. This is a point-score competition and points will be awarded only to current financial members of the Club.  An email concerning payment of Club Fees was distributed to all members on the 29th January 2019 and the corresponding post is on the Club’s website home page.

If you have not done so already, please prepare your photos, enter them on the MyPhotoClub website (taking care that you select the correct media), print your labels and attach them to the back of the prints. It is good practice to print your labels immediately after submitting your entry as you cannot print them after the competition closes. A good idea is to “Print to PDF” and save the file for when you need it and you can then print it when and as often as needed.

Instructions for entering a competition are on the Club Documents page and at this link: PHPC MyPhotoClub Instruction – Entering a Competition

The Competition Rules and Categories 2019  and the 2019 PHPC Calendar of competitions and events may also be found there.

As usual, if you have any difficulties or questions, please contact the Competition Secretary, Tony Strasser on 0408-406-519 or at competition@phpc.org.au.

Good luck with your entries! See you at the judging on the evening of the 18th February 2019.

PHPC MyPhotoClub Instruction – Viewing Completed Competitions

We are fast approaching our final meeting of the year on the 3rd of December 2018 where the point-score placegetters will be announced and trophies and certificates given.  Please select your entries, from among those you entered this year, for the Print and Projected Image of the Year competition.  There is a special procedure for this which was posted just a few days ago and is in the Club Documents page.

Also do not forget to enter the special Poster Competition, to be held on the same night.  The procedure is the usual one for uploading and entering new images.

Print and Projected Image of the Year Competition Instructions

Now that members have uploaded their final entries for the year, except for the Poster Competition, it is time to consider what images to select for the final competition to be held on the 3rd of December 2018.

The procedure for entry involves selecting from any of the images that have been already uploaded and entered into previous competitions, irrespective of awards gained.  The instructions are on the Club Rules and Documents page, and at the following link:

PHPC MyPhotoClub Instruction – Entering the Image of the Year Competition

Please ensure that:

  • if you are a member of other clubs on MyPhotoClub that you select only from your PHPC (pennanthills) entries; and
  • your selected entries are appropriate for the media category you are entering – specifically, that monochrome prints are monochrome

Also please note that MyPhotoClub will not produce labels for this competition (which is a shortcoming that is acknowledged but cannot be changed).  Labels are required for prints, but as members are selecting from prior entries, labels should already be attached. As advised previously, it is prudent to save PDF copies of your labels when entries are first made.

The Poster Competition is entered by the usual method and labels must be attached.  Please refer to the Comp Rules and Categories V4 2018 for the Poster Competition requirements.

If anyone has difficulty or questions please contact the Competition Secretary at competition@phpc.org.au or on 0408-406-519.  Good luck with your entries.
